Lee Lee Nam
이이남은 조선대학교 조소과를 졸업하고 동 대학원에서 석사 학위, 미술학 박사학위를 받았다. 또한 연세대학교에서 영상 예술학 박사과정을 수료했다. 벨기에, 중국, 독일, 카타르, 뉴욕, 싱가포르, 파리, 런던 등지에서 개인전과 그룹전을 통해 국제적으로 명성을 쌓아온 이이남은 2016 부산 비엔날레에서 Google의 VR 틸트 브러시(Tilt Brush) 기술을 접목한 전시를 선보였으며, 같은 해 베니스 비엔날레에서 높은 호응을 받았다. 2018년에는 남과 북 분단 역사의 경계인 판문점 평화의 집에서 겸재정선의 금강전도를 재해석한 디지털 병풍 ‘평화의 길목’을 선보여 공존과 평화의 메시지를 전달했다. 특히 2019년에는 테이트모던 시네마에서 개인전을 개최했다. 그의 작품은 인천국제공항, 벨기에 지브라스트라트 미술관, 국립중앙도서관, UN본부, 샌프란시스코 아시아 미술관, 중국 수닝예술관 등에 소장되어 있다. 이이남은 현대사회 이슈와 역사를 융합하여 사회적 메시지를 전달하는 미디어 아티스트로서, 다양한 실험과 협업을 통해 예술적 지평을 확장하고 있다
LEE Lee-nam is a distinguished multimedia artist who explores
the intersection of art, technology, and social commentary. He graduated with a degree in Sculpture from Chosun University, where he also earned his Master’s and PhD in Fine Arts. Additionally, he completed PhD coursework in Visual Arts at Yonsei University. Lee has gained international acclaim through solo exhibitions
and group exhibitions in countries including Belgium, China, Germany, Qatar, the United States, Singapore, France, and the United Kingdom. In 2016, he integrated Google’s VR Tilt Brush technology in his exhibition at the Busan Biennale and garnered significant attention at the Venice Biennale. In 2018, Lee presented a digital folding screen titled Pathway to Peace at the House of Peace in Panmunjom, reinterpreting Jeong Seon’s Geumgang Jeondo to convey messages of coexistence and peace. In 2019, he held a solo exhibition at Tate Modern Cinema. His works are part of collections at Incheon International Airport, ZebraStrat Museum in Belgium, the National Library of Korea, the UN Headquarters, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, and the Suning Art Museum in China. Lee’s practice merges contemporary issues with historical narratives, delivering potent social messages through innovative experiments and collaborations.
